Information about Scrutiny Committee

The Scrutiny Committee is a committee of the Council, and meets the Council’s legal obligation to monitor and scrutinise decisions of the executive. It has power:

(a)        to review or scrutinise decisions made, or other action taken, in connection with functions of the Council, whether or not these are the responsibility of the executive; there is a specific power to call-in decisions of the executive,

(b)        to make reports or recommendations to the authority or the executive with respect to Council functions, whether or not  these are the responsibility of the executive,

(c)        to make reports or recommendations to the authority or the executive on matters which affect the authority's area or the inhabitants of that area .
