Roalco, the contractor providing responsive
repairs and void property works went into Administration on 11 July
2019 leaving the Council without service provision for repairs,
including out of hours emergency call outs
Whilst work was already underway to prepare to retender the
contract, it is not possible to be without a contractor for any
period of time. An interim solution was needed with immediate
effect.

To go to the market and tender the contract to
reduce risk to the Council.
The Council used the Crown Commercial Services Framework Agreement
to reduce overheads in the procurement process and issued tender
documents in July 2019.
Following evaluation of offers, tenders have been accepted and
contracts awarded to two providers
Axa Art Insurance - specifically for insurance for museum artworks
and
Zurich Municipal - for all other covers,(Material Damage, Fidelity
Guarantee, Combined Liability, Motor Insurance, Engineering &
Inspection, Group Personal Accident & Travel and
Computers).
